What is ILO?
Individualised Living Options (ILO) is NDIS Core Support funding that lets participants design their own living arrangement first — living alone, with chosen housemates, or with a host family — and then builds flexible, tailored support around that choice, rather than fitting the participant into a fixed shared-house roster.

How is ILO different from SIL?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) typically provides rostered, often 24/7, support in a shared home. ILO is more flexible and participant-led: you choose your own living arrangement first — including living alone or with people you choose — and support is delivered as visits sized to your actual needs rather than a fixed shift pattern.
Who is ILO suited to?
ILO generally suits NDIS participants aged 18+ with moderate support needs who want more autonomy over their living situation than a shared supported home offers, and who may have some informal support from family or friends to blend with paid assistance. It doesn't require 24-hour supervision.
How is ILO funded under the NDIS?
ILO funding typically has two phases: an Exploration and Design phase to plan the living arrangement and support needed, followed by ongoing implementation funding for ILO supports in your Core Supports budget.
